4th Place Double at Darley for Johnson at Stars at Darley

Xpress Racing and David Johnson achieved two impressive 4th place finishes at the popular Stars at Darley meeting held at Darley Moor, Derbyshire each year.

The Stoke on Trent based National Superstock Championship team were invited to enter the Stars at Darley meeting this weekend, to compete along side other top British teams and riders including Hawk Kawasaki's Dean Thomas and Glen Richards, as well as John Mc Guinness and Nick Medd. Qualifying in 4th place with just 0.7 seconds covering the front row, Johnson was ideally suited for an impressive and exciting race.

Having made a fantastic start aboard the Xpress Racing Suzuki GSX-R1000 K5, Johnson managed to hold 2nd place for the first lap, then settled into an easy rhythm behind the three Hawk Kawasaki Superbikes to finish in a comfortable 4th place.

The second race was played out pretty much the same as race one with Johnson finishing once again in a relaxed and secure 4th place, seven seconds clear of the 5th place man.

David commented afterwards 'I'm really pleased with how well the bike performed this weekend, to qualify so close behind the Hawk bikes and to be able to run with them in the races was fantastic, it was also great to be back on Dunlop tyres again. I'd like to thank the Xpress Racing team for their support this weekend and I'm looking forward to doing it all again next year.'

Xpress Racing Team Principal Nigel Broomhall added 'It was a good weekend all round. I knew David would go well, as he qualified 3rd here last year. I'm very pleased we were able to support and be part of the Stars at Darley weekend. Qualifying on the front row and to finish 4th in both races made for an enjoyable day's racing.

I'd like to thank Don Ryder and Eddie Nelson, as well as the rest of the team and the marshals at Darley Moor who put together and ran a very professional weekend of racing. I'm looking forward very much to next year's Stars meeting.'
